Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from March of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
