Guten tag, football enthusiasts. Wie gehts? Alles klar I trust on this fine early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Colts (seven wins and two losses) face off against the Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on German soil and the first in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in their last game?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.
First Quarter Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his center to recover the fumble with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the excitement continues as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
Additional Week 10 Games
And for afters, the jumbo package starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:
(5-4) Carolina Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)
An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the game of the day.
