Are They Serious Hopefuls?

It remains an exceptionally difficult question to resolve. The historical record, the traditional standing of the club, indicates otherwise. Furthermore, they've rarely been completely commanding during this run, even as the victories have piled up.

As per statistical analysis, on just two occasions has the side registered an xG significantly higher than the opposition. For a team that have put together a ten-match winning streak, the Villans appear strangely fragile – yet currently the tight outcomes are falling their way.

The Winning Formula

The prevailing tactic looks like to trade blows with rivals before hoping Rogers to rescue them with some precise efforts. This was the case against Leeds, it happened at West Ham, and once more versus the Red Devils.

This could contain the seeds of a genuine bid, yet it seems unlikely cannot keep relying on one man.

Savoring the Moment

But then, this is a surprise. Few believed Villa would occupy third at Christmas. And without a doubt two months ago, nobody thought Rogers by the end of the year would be at the forefront of a championship pursuit and appearing as an essential Three Lions star.

This remarkable period must be cherished exactly since it feels so unlikely. When Rogers positioned himself before the North End at the final whistle orchestrating the applause, he appeared to be thoroughly enjoying it. Which he fully merits. These spells are rare in football and must be appreciated.
