Vinted Shoppers Express Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
